Park Eddy

Park Eddy




As the President for Active Captive Management (ACM), Park Eddy is responsible for the overall strategic development of the company and consults for its clients on strategic direction and operations. Park offers vast experience in all facets of the design, implementation and ongoing management of captives, as well as alternative risk transfer mechanisms and pools. He also collaborates with risk management departments or firms to design, implement, and manage ACM client’s insured and self-insured programs.


Park joined ACM as Executive Vice-President in 2003. Prior to that, he worked in the alternative risk market for Beecher Carlson and AON, and in the sales, management and marketing of pension investment programs for John Hancock (formally Manulife Financial) and The Guardian Insurance Companies. Park is well-regarded by his colleagues and industry professionals for his exceptional leadership skills and work ethic.


Park is actively engaged in the captive insurance industry and is on the Alternative Risk Transfer Committee of the Self Insurance Institute of America (SIIA), the Rulemaking Advisory Committee for Captive Insurers of Oregon, and the Captive Insurance Companies Association. He is a sought-after speaker, presenting regularly on complex industry matters and upcoming trends.


Park holds a Bachelor’s degree in Investment Finance and an MBA from the Marshall School of Business, both from the University of Southern California. He is also a licensed property and casualty and life insurance broker.


Prior to launching a professional career in the financial industry, Park was on the 1984 Los Angeles Olympic Organizing Committee where he helped organize and run the yachting venue in Long Beach. In 1986-87, he had the opportunity to sail in the America’s Cup.

Dana Sheridan

General Counsel and Chief Compliance Officer


Dana Hentges Sheridan is Active Captive’s General Counsel and Chief Compliance Officer.  Dana’s background includes a BA in English and Philosophy, with a minor in Psychology from the College of St. Catherine, Phi Beta Kappa.  She has a JD degree from William Mitchell College of Law, Cum Laude.  Dana brings over 17 years experience in insurance and risk evaluation and consultation to Active Captive.  Prior to joining Active Captive, Dana practiced in a law firm setting as a trial attorney and insurance coverage counsel, where she represented commercial insurance companies.  Over the course of her career, Dana has also provided contract drafting services and risk management counsel to corporate clients, including design of insurance programs, regulatory compliance, privacy advice, and information risk management.  Dana has extensive insurance experience with complex claims and suits involving P&C lines, excess/umbrella, E&O and D&O coverage.


Dana was selected for inclusion in the 2007, 2009 and 2010 Southern California Super Lawyers Rising Stars®. She was also named as a 2011 Top Attorney by Pasadena Magazine.  Dana was a contributing author to Chapter 38, “Understanding Errors and Omissions Insurance,” New Appleman Insurance Law Practice Guide, Volume 3 (2007). She frequently speaks and writes on a variety of insurance related topics, including coverage and claim trends, regulatory issues, and providing California Claims Handling training for insurers.

Deanna Gilpin

Since joining Active Captive in 1997, Deanna has assisted clients on a wide range of assignments in the design, viability approval, capitalization, ongoing administration and compliance of privately held captives. She currently holds the position of Chief Financial Officer and Client Administrator. Deanna has an extensive background in domicile relationships, captive management, insurance coverage, accounting and policy administration. Deanna is responsible for the management and supervision of client accounts including financial and regulatory reporting. Deanna received her B.S., Economics California State University of Long Beach in 1986.

Rick Weiner

Rick’s primary responsibilities include client and product development. Rick is a highly experienced attorney and certified public accountant with a practice dedicated to the complex planning and transactional needs of high net-worth families, entrepreneurs, and business owners. Rick has practiced in Orange County California for over 20 years. Rick specializes in providing advanced and comprehensive estate, gift, corporate, partnership, real property, and tax planning services. Rick serves his clients beyond any single transaction to assist them in accomplishing their ultimate objectives and long-term strategic needs.


Rick graduated from UCLA with a degree in Economics. Rick joined Arthur Andersen & Company in 1984 as an audit and tax professional. Rick later earned a law degree from Arizona State University (1989) and was later qualified by the California and Nevada State Bars for practice in those states. He is also a licensed CPA in the State of California. This experience has enabled Rick to work with generations of families to help them facilitate their objectives for integrated tax, business, and estate planning and administration.

Cinda Carbone

Executive Vice President of Alternative Risk Solutions


As the Executive Vice President of Alterative Risk Solutions, Cinda is responsible for providing consulting services on issues related to the captive world, including education, domicile regulatory compliance, analysis involving feasibility studies, pro forma financial projections, strategic reviews of existing captives, formation of new captives, and the expansion of existing captives. Prior to joining Active Captive Management, Cinda worked at Marsh & McLennan as Assistant Vice President in Marsh’s Captive Advisory practice for the western U.S., based in Newport Beach, CA. Previously she was a Captive Account Manager with Marsh in Honolulu, Hawaii. In addition, Cinda was Marsh’s Marketing Liaison for the State of Arizona, Hawaii, Utah, and Nevada. Cinda has been directly involved in a wide variety of captive insurance structures and industry groups. Prior to joining Marsh in 2004, Cinda was the Division Controller for Supervalu, Inc., which at the time, was the nation’s largest grocery wholesaler. Cinda received her Bachelors Degree in Business Administration – Accounting from Iowa State University. Cinda received her Associate of Captive Insurance (ACI) certificate from ICCIE in 2009. Cinda earned her Certified Public Accounting status in 1988 (currently Inactive) and holds a California P&C Broker / Agent License.

Diana Parsons

Chief Accounting Officer


Diana is responsible for the accounting and financial reporting of Active Captive Management’s clientele and corporate operations. She has over 20 years of experience in Accounting, Finance and Business Operations throughout various captive related industries including medical device, high-technology, manufacturing, consumer electronics and aerospace. During Diana’s career, she has worked for Applied Medical, Johnson & Johnson, Toshiba and Beckman Coulter supporting accounting operations, financial management, auditing, strategic planning, business development and mergers & acquisitions. Diana received her Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance from California State University, Fullerton and her Master of Business Administration degree from Pepperdine University. She is an active Certified Public Accountant and a member of California Certified Public Accountants.

Michael McKahan

Chief Operations Officer


Michael is responsible for the Quality Controls and Client Management Systems for ACM’s client and strategic advisor base. Michael also manages domicile relationships, regulatory compliance, and company branding and strategic marketing relationships. Michael has over 20 years of CMS experience and has represented operational, sales and marketing platforms in the lending and advertising industry. Prior to joining Active Captive, he held executive operations positions with nationally recognized mortgage corporations. Michael is a graduate of Central Michigan University.

Shelly Caprio

Chief Underwriting Officer


Shelly is the head of ACM’s underwriting department and is responsible for the oversight of underwriting for existing and new captive insurance companies including appropriate line selection, pricing for captive risk, coordinating with outside actuarial resources, and Active Captive’s design and claims teams.  Shelly has over 20 years experience underwriting commercial and alternative risk insurance.   Shelly’s experience also includes forming and managing multiple group captive insurance company programs and working with self-insured groups in California and Nevada.   Shelly is a graduate of Santa Clara University and holds a California Property & Casualty Broker-Agent license.


Susan Jacobson

Vice President of Risk Management


Susan Jacobson serves as Vice President of Risk Management, responsible for quality control in the areas of: Risk Assessment, Risk Control and Policy Management.


Prior to joining the Active Captive team, Susan served as Vice President of Risk Management in the real estate development industry. In that capacity she managed numerous captives on behalf of the parent company and managed the insurance portfolio, risk related issues, claims management and business continuity. Additionally, she provided expertise related to company contractual matters, always ensuring the Company is in the best possible risk prevention position. Mrs. Jacobson received her B.A. degree, from the University of California, Irvine in 1991.

Lyn Wilder

Vice President


Lyn’s primary responsibilities include spearheading National Strategic Sales Development and Client Relations. Since joining ACM, his emphasis has been on expanding the company brand name nationally in the Captive market and the development of a national strategic advisor network and client base. Today, ACM services clients in over 20 states.


Lyn has over 40 years of experience in the financial, construction and real estate sectors serving as a CEO, owner, partner, and participation as a Board of Director member of several operating companies. Through Lyn’s diverse and direct hands-on experience as an owner of numerous companies, Lyn is a tremendous asset to ACM in working closely with our clients in establishing captives and the management of the captives. As a community leader, he has received several awards for outstanding charitable service. He is a University of Kentucky alumnus.

Fred Turner

Fred Turner




Frederick E. Turner, J.D., Founder. Fred also serves as the Vice Chairman of the American Bar Association as an authority on captive insurance companies. Fred entered the field of alternative risk solutions in 1986 and has overseen the formation of over 700 captive insurance companies. Fred is directly involved in the drafting of insurance policies, coverage issues and the financial and tax applications of Captive design. Throughout the course of his career, several large insurance companies have retained Fred, including, Hartford Insurance, Cuna Mutual Insurance Company, Fidelity National Title Insurance Company, Chicago Title Insurance Company and American Title Insurance Company. When the Internal Revenue Service sought input from the Utah Captive Insurance (“Association”) on certain captive insurance company issues, the Association called on Fred to write a response paper. Graduate Juris Doctorate, Loyola Law School,1980, cum laude.
